Keeping it in the participants’ words
I took part as student team lead in a Content One Campus program supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and run by Chung-Ang University: A Life Story Like a Film — Seniors’ Video Autobiographies Captured by AI (‘영화 같은 인생 이야기 — 인공지능이 담은 어르신들의 영상자서전’).
The program’s approach works like this. It gathers information about a person’s life through conversations with them, has AI compose that story to suit the situation, and turns it into video content that holds that individual’s life. The idea is to make “my life the protagonist of a story” (‘내 인생을 이야기의 주인공으로’).
Listening to what participants wanted to keep from their lives came first. Filming and editing were means to convey the story clearly while preserving the participants’ own language.
The thread that began in this program led to the capstone You (‘당신’) that same year and to Companion (‘동행’) the year after, and connects to my current research interest in generative AI for reminiscence. The You poster carries the KOCCA and Chung-Ang University logos side by side.
