AI Video Autobiography ‘Companion’

A story revisited after the graduation project

Companion (‘동행 道’) is a follow-up video made in response to public feedback on my graduation project You (‘당신’). I interviewed again the older couple who live their days on campus, and the finished piece was released on Chung-Ang University’s official YouTube channel under the title Companion — Seniors’ Autobiographies Captured by AI («동행 — 인공지능이 담은 어르신들의 자서전»).

Between the interviews and the reminiscence scenes

After transcribing the conversations with speech recognition, I built the scenario in an order that follows the couple’s relationship and feelings. Because the film deals with real people’s experiences, I checked the context of the interviews first, and used AI to show scenes that could not be filmed directly, such as memories of their youth.

From the opening on a campus bench in late autumn to subtitles of their own voices, such as “I’m trying to walk in step with those footsteps” (“나는 그 발걸음에 맞춰 걸어보려고 하네”), I arranged the audio and subtitles and edited the reminiscence scenes so that the present-day interviews and the past memories meet in one flow.
